Metropolitan Museum of Art aka The MET!

We’ve all heard of…  “The Met”. Covering a staggering  two million square feet, it boasts the outstanding reputation for hosting some of the greatest art pieces in the world.

To me…it’s absolutely massive and magical!  It’s full of art, from all different cultures in every medium you can imagine!  My favourite section is filled with European paintings.
Picasso, Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Matisse.  An absolute feast for the eye.

It’s almost overwhelming to take it all in!  Steeped in history, culture and ancient life artifacts from all over the world. It’s almost surreal!  All your senses will be enthralled…let your mind, body and spirit wander around… who needs yoga when you have The Met?

I was quite surprised to find that you can openly take pictures. No need to snipe swift shots of your favourite sculpture.  Take your time and compose your frame to it’s best advantage.

Life on the Met steps, leading up to the museum is always entertaining.  If you are crunched for time take advantage of the food trucks … it’s where all the cool kids have lunch…or at least, so it seems on “Gossip Girl”! ;)

Located on the upper east side, The Met is always putting on brilliant exhibits! Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
While you're there be sure to check out the view of Central Park from the roof...

A little tip from hotbynight or any New Yorker - The Met is technically free! They suggest you pay the $25 entrance fee but it’s only a “recommendation”. When paying your admission, tell the clerk the amount that you can comfortably “donate”.  And you’re in! (I usually give about $10). Word on the street is that this is actually in dispute.  The “suggested” option might not be available forever.  Don’t wait … go to THE MET today!
